  1. I love to make friends, and most of my clients ends being good ones.

I hate those who think they know exactly what they need, want to be authors of the design and only hires me to operate the Mac. Easy money for me, but very bad for my reputation. I always try to avoid those.

  2. Clients should not be neither hated or loved. Clients are persons just like us.

They gives to the designer the opportunity to express himself doing a great work, indipendently of the client.

Wait, I’m not saying that all the clients are equal. There are lovable clients that makes working with them easy and pleasuring and other ones that makes that harder, maybe with a lot of “stupid” requests or trying to get a discount or paying out of time.

The important thing is the approach that we have with the client. If we’re professional and treat them in the best way that we’re able to, and sometimes like friends, maybe they will do the same with us and our work will be more satisfying.

  3. I love clients that know what they want to achieve. It makes it so much easier to help them and for them to be happy with the end result if they can communicate what they want the end result to be.

Beside’s Carlos’ answer (which bugs me to no end), I hate the client who feels the need to implement a design-by-committee approach, and bring people in last minute with new ideas that change the scope.

What I hate about clients? That they really think they can do a better job then the designer.

You do something and they say: “WOW THATS COOL! just some minor changes…. and we all know what that means: Try another font. maybe make that bigger, that smaller, wha about red and green? WOW THAT LOOKS AWESOME! Keep it just like that…”

in the end they didnt need a designer at all and you created something you dont want to be connected with. You just cant put it into your portfolio… and why? because they dont listen to you and your professional background..

what I like about my clients? well, when they listen to me and belive me :D

  5. What I love and hate about my clients.

I love it when they know what they want and give me a good briefing. Or when they don’t know what they want but give me all freedom.

I also love it when the client agrees with me and likes logo that I made. I prefer that much over the client that thinks he is a designer.

I also love critical clients that help me get the logo to the next level. I hate it when the company is their baby and the logo has to be to what they like, and not what is suitable to the target group.

  6. I love clients that now/have an idea of what they want, clients that know that an identity is a cooperative endeavor.

I hate clients that don’t understand that, clients who think that just because I am a graphic designer i should instinctively now what there needs are, who am i?? Nostradamus or something?? :)

I also hate kittens but that’s a whole other story.

  7. I love that clients pay me to do what I love!
I hate when clients try to do my job for me.

It’s great when clients give me enough input to allow me to do my job creatively but, like the comments above, I hate when clients just want me to make their own idea come to life and give me no freedom to actually ‘design’ anything myself.
